OUR STORY
Spice Isle Greens is a premium, technology-driven Grenadian grower that utilizes sustainable vertical farming to produce exceptionally fresh organic microgreens, herbs and edible flowers using solar powered growing systems. We combine Grenada's natural abundance with innovative technology to produce exceptionally fresh, locally grown greens - using resources intelligently and growing closer to the people we serve. Helping to elevate our culinary offerings in Grenada, while providing an agricultural contribution to the Food, Water, Energy Nexus initiative in Grenada.
SIG - The Mission
Our farm's mission is to deliver fresh, chemical free produce to supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and households, thus reducing Grenada's food import bill and advancing climate-resilient agriculture We utilize vertical technology with solar-assisted air-water irrigation, achieving 90% water savings and 70% increase in space efficiency a: compared to traditional farming.
Most important to the consumer, vertical microgreen farming also delivers the best tasting diverse crops. Grenada is a volcanic island and the soil is rich in irons. These irons enrich the crops contributing to the bitter taste in many leafy greens, which is a turnoff for some pallets Our method eliminates the problems associated with the use of fossil fuels, making the operation carbon neutral. Additionally, there is no ground water depletion, no topsoil loss, no pollution of soil and environment from runoff of nutrients from pesticides and herbicides.
